What’s your plan for the summer? Exciting vacations with the kids, plenty of trips to the beach, BBQs with the family? Things usually get a little crazy in the summer, with the kids out of school we get off routine and just have so much going on that it can be a little overwhelming. And then what happens? We start slacking on areas of our lives that need attention.
For me, this summer is turning out to be one of the craziest of all. It started out with welcoming our precious baby Haylie into the world, and then we followed it up with a huge move from Florida to North Carolina!
I can’t wait to see what God has in store for the rest of our summer together as a family, but I’m hoping it will be a little more relaxing. Either way, I’ve managed to stay on top of my goals so far!
My Post-Baby Weight Loss
Through all the hectic things going on in my family’s life, like any new mamma, my goal was to lose that baby weight! And after just 6-weeks I was able to say I was proud with where I was at.
People have asked how it did it. My answer is: a ton of commitment!
- I drank Shakeology to curb my cravings every day
- Ate healthy micronutrient foods (I didn’t “diet”)
- Got active every day
- Drank a gallon of water daily
- And kept my mind in the right place with personal development
And I don’t plan on stopping! Even after 3 kids, I want to get into the best shape of my life!
The Master Plan for a Healthy Summer
I’ve discovered that the best way to get something done, and really stick to it, is to have a plan! So here’s mine…
Choose a Fitness Plan
If you’re a runner, great! Set a goal for yourself, like a daily mile goal. If you love biking, try setting a goal of biking 50 miles by the end of the summer. Mark it on your calendar as a reminder each day! Or choose another fitness plan to follow, like one of the many from Beachbody On Demand.
My Plan: I plan on completing Beachbody’s Hammer & Chisel Program! I’ve done this program with my husband before and we both got into the best shape we’ve ever been in. We had more energy, slept better at night, and my clothes fit so much better.
I always find that if I have a program that I’m committed to following, something that has a calendar all laid out for me, I’m able to stick to it so more easily! That’s what I love about all of the Beachbody programs—they tell you what to do, and when to do it. No guessing games!
Figure out your nutrition
Find something that you’ll be able to stick to without feeling restricted. I know you’re going to want some of the BBQ ribs or hamburgers on the 4th of July—you don’t need to avoid them completely! You just need to find a meal plan that will allow you to splurge and allow you to eat a little bit of everything. Diets that ask you to do things like avoid carbs completely or only consume so many calories just aren’t doable in the long-term.
My Plan: Portion control and paying attention to my macronutrients. Using color-coded portion control containers I’ll be able to enjoy all the summer foods I want to, but still stay on track with my health!
The Portion Fix containers that I’ll be using teach you how to eat right in a way that can be incorporated every day and sustained for the long-term!
This is plays a huge part in how well you’ll be able to stick with it and the results that you get. Posting on social media regularly with things like weight loss progress pics or healthy meals you’re eating can help, but you really need someone there with you! Tell someone your plan and you’ll have more motivation to stick with it so that you have results to share. Or better yet, complete a health & fitness plan with someone else! By doing this you’ll have someone right there on the same page as you, someone to complain with when you’re sore from working out. Someone to swap meal ideas with. And best of all, someone to hold you accountable! I find that I have the best results when my husband and I are in it together. So team up with your significant other or best friends and commit to a healthy lifestyle together.

My Plan: As I shared above, last time I did the Hammer & Chisel programs I did it with my husband by my side—this time will be no different! We keep eachother accountable even on the toughest and busiest days. I’m so blessed to have such a supportive and motivating husband.
Second, participating in challenge groups! I host these groups to help others, but honestly, they’ve been a huge help for me too. The individuals I meet in these groups continually motivate me to be the best I can be!
